Introduction to the Amazon Tradition
The Amazon Tradition is a Goddess and nature based spiritual practice for womyn and girls only. It is for those of us who don't quite fit into the spiritual or religious boxes of others. Our primary mission is to provide safe and sacred spaces for womyn and girls to spend time with the Goddess and each other in ritual and magic making. Our tradition is not suited to men, transwomen, or non-binary people, as it grew out of the Dianic Tradition of the Wiccan Religion and revolves around four aspects of the Goddess (the Maiden, the Mistress, the Mother, and the Matriarch), as these are reflected in the seasons of a womyn's life and the five blood mysteries they share.
Our Thealogy is simple. It assumes that "The Goddess" is conceptualized by womyn in many different ways, and that each is valid. We accept that She has been known by many names and many faces and facets, and that She will not be placed in anyone's box, for She is the undefinable and uncontainable creative force in the Universe. We celebrate Her with feasts and rituals on the holy days of Ostara, Plantingmas, Litha, Harvestmas, Mabon, Hallowmas, Yule, and Candlemas. Our ritual practices involve honoring each aspect of the Goddess in Her season, as well as celebrating the achievements and milestones in the ever changing seasons of womyn's lives. We do not hold secret initiations or make the traditional "challenge" with an athame to enter our circle. Rather, in a patriarchal world, our challenge is to create sacred space where womyn and girls are safe to perform Goddess and Womyn honoring rituals without the threat of patriarchal interruption or violence. Our goal is to empower womyn to develop their spiritual creativity, intellectual capacity, and physical capabilities. We offer Year And A Day Study (YAAD) classes beginning on Candlemas each year. Our classes involve crafting magical tools and supplies, as well as exploring many magical & mystical topics in partnership with the Goddess and Her womyn. |
