We Are Strong, Socially Conscious, Smart, Creative, Spiritually Minded, and Magical Powerful Womyn!
We are a tradition of strong, talented, socially conscious, creative, smart, curious, imaginative, spiritually minded, and magically powerful womyn who stand strong on our core spiritual values and magical practices. Womyn in the Amazon Tradition are Goddess loving, womyn honoring, tree hugging, dirt worshiping, radical feminists who make no apology for the way we live our lives. We are diverse in social class, sexual orientation, and spiritual experience. We represent womyn of all ages and abilities. We are accepting of womyn from all races and religious backgrounds.
Our sisters are politically aware and active. Some create artful protest signs. Some participate in events like the Women's March on Washington and Women's Reproductive Rights protests. Some participate in Black Lives Matter events. Some provide security for LGBT Pride events. Some provide shielding for women entering abortion clinics. Some work in animal rescue and shelter organizations. Because we believe that all things are connected in the web of life, for us, political involvement is an extension of our personal spiritual practice.
Some of our sisters are vegetarian, so the bulk of our ritual feasts are plant-based dishes. However, we also include one or two dishes for our carnivorous sisters. Additionally, while we enjoy each other's company, we are not a "party" oriented tradition. We welcome womyn in recovery and try to support their sobriety, so all of our gatherings are drug and alcohol free. Part of this is just good magical practice. If we wouldn't get into a car with a drunk driver, why would we practice magic with a drunk witch?
However, none of this means that we are monolithic in our spiritual, political, or personal beliefs. We all have our own passions and personal convictions. Yet, for these reasons we are very careful about bringing new womyn into our tradition. We recognize that we are not necessarily a good fit for all women. This is why we are open and share as much as we can about ourselves before we gather in ritual and perform magic together, and why we expect the same level of openness from the womyn who inquire about joining us. Please recognize that it is the job of our ritual and guardian priestesses to play magical match-makers in order to ensure that the coven's energetic flow is maintained as potential new members join us in the ritual circle. This is for everyone's comfort and safety. We don't want there to be any regrets or disappointments down the line.
